Dune
Finally I have bought the first book in the series of Dune written by Frank Herbert. I must admit that I had no idea these books existed two years ago... It started with a friend of my sending me some songs from a soundtrack from what was then something like Children of Dune... I loved the song Inama Nushif:) Then later I found the mini-series at the dvd rental store and loved it, and now finally I have bought the first book!!:)
I am working in a store that sells fantasy and sci-fi stuff, Outland which is dangerous when you're addicted to books... I have already bought one book and it was my first day... How is this going to end I wonder:D Probably with tons of books......
A cheers to all authors, dead and living, that has written or is going to write (this doesn't go for the dead ones of course))) wonderful books!!

Galad
I love the idea of CS Lewis about entering Narnia... That it cannot be found if you look for it.
I love this picture and it reminds me of a place just like Narnia; a place that you can only enter when you do not seek it... It's got this dreamy feeling over it. Makes me want to be that woman dancing between the trees in the silvery moonlight. It draws me into this fantastical world. Almost like a world between space and time, a place that is alive somewhere beyond reality. It is a place where I am free and blissful...
Dancing in moonlight
Memories of dreams to come
Foreseen and untold

Let the dragon fly free. No hidden dragons:)
I just felt like seeing a dragon here today... I love dragons and they has as much as the wolves gotten a bad "press"... I like to think of dragons as guardians and wise creatures.
I am thinking I need some great strength in my life now:)
Well, it's been a week since last time... Did get that spa treatment from my mum... I tell you!! It is recommended!! Three hours of pure bliss being pampered...
The nice sunny weather is gone for now... Rain, rain and some more rain... But I guess it's good for all living earthy things, so I won't complain:D The world will seem much greener tomorrow...
I just feel in kind of a dark mood today... Dragons and Nazgûls...
The darker forces of the world are at work... Wondering if anybody else feels restless and gloomy today...

At the end of the day
It feels like my brain is cooked now;)) It's been great today. I've had a beer and everything)) Been sitting in the sun and just enjoying life...
Now the sun is on its way down and it leaves behind it a cool and beautiful evening... It just smells wonderful. A tree outside my window is in full bloom with lovely white flowers... And tomorrow is my coming of age hobbit birthday)) Going to celebrate it in true hobbit style (except that I get the presents;)) with good food and drinking, and a merry company...
I wish you could come to Oslo too Sheri... But soon, very soon we'll meet up. I'll come visit you in Cotati and we'll go to San Francisco and be artsy and have fun... And you'll come to Norway and have a beer or wine;) Glad to hear your tests went well, at least the english exam... Hopefully the math too)) Talk to you soon... Big hug

Ring, ring
Hi Sheri))) How are things going with your slug... I am putting this on just for you... Not that I have anything interesting to say...
It has been as the earlier slug suggested a day without doing much. I must be crazy not to have been out in the beautiful sunny weather we have had today!! I will however get out tomorrow. Might even walk down to Oslo city for my appointment at Brilleland... Got myself some new contacts and have to check if they fit me all right...
My birthday is coming up soon two... My coming of age hobbit birthday;) My mom has something planned I am sure... I got a message to bring some nice clothes with me (not wearing them...). Hmmmm... I have been thinking like crazy... I do have my suspicion that it involves something with a spa or something (or I hope it does))). I guess I just have to keep wondering until thursday....
Viggo is a present for Sheri;) She is his number one fan)))
The sweetness of doing nothing
This is a little how I have felt today:) Just lying down in my secret garden, dreaming and looking into a world that only I can see...
I never seen this picture before in my life, and I don't have any clue on who's painted it, but I think the painting is called Dolce far Niente... I think it might be something like "the sweetness of doing nothing".

Getting hooked on slugs....
I found another one of my favorite pictures)) I "found" this picture in The Art of the Ages (Gardner). It is by Jules Bastien-Lepage. It is of course Joan of Arc))) Having the vision of herself leading the French army to victory.
I have always found the story of Joan a very fascinating one. To believe in something so strongly... No doubt that faith can move mountains))) And having such a strong conviction. Of course it didn't end very happily... Maybe there will always be those working against you if you are so passionate about what you believe is true... There are lots of tales of humans dying for their beliefs and convictions;)
But I wish we had a little bit more passion for living a life of passion and compassion. I believe there are too many of us living unconsciously in this world... We should all find the Joan inside of us, I guess... Or what ever hero or heroine that speaks to your heart, for we all have the potential to become the hero our own story!! We just have to believe a little bit more...
The Lady of Sharlott
This is the picture we talked about...
The Lady of Shalott by John William Waterhouse.
It is inspired by the poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson.

You could also try the beautiful song by Loreena McKennitt:)
Haven't found a fitting title yet...
disappearing into the dark again
Fading into grey,
into the nothingness of my own despair
Your words have hurt me again,
cutting my wounds wide open…
You pull at my chains again
They strangle me
and I choke on my frustration
I try to run away
but I find that I have run right back
to where it all started
and I find no comfort there,
only a cold and painful hatred…
Of everything I have become today
I know you must hate yourself
and maybe that’s why you hate me as well…
The chains are cutting deep into my flesh
until I can’t see anything but the pain…
The tears burn in my eyes,
your words burn my heart into a pile
of ash that the wind carries far away
from these streets that are lifeless…
Memories of dreams I used to dream,
but now lies empty and barren in front of me…
I am walking around, lost
disappearing into the dark again…
The Battle for Hope
Some cannot be fought without a sword,
and some of them are fought within.
The Heart raises its sword against the Ego,
cut deep wounds in the flesh.
Tears of agony and pain,
a cry of pure despair and frustration.
And then, in the darkest moment,
a path of light and the purest colours appear.
It leads to a heavenly sphere,
somewhere you never thought you’d find yourself.
But the cross-roads are many
and temptation keeps you on call.
A clear vision of something you never thought you’d know.
Darkness stir your inner most fear,
draws life right out of your soul.
Loneliness seems to be your closest friend.
If you could only find the light again,
that soft whisper and strength of love once more…
And the battle rages on and on…
Endlessly it seems,
lost in advance…
But deep within your heart,
there is a little and faint flame burning.
If you could find it,
and hold on to it…
That is when you give light a meaning.
That is when you light the flame of hope…
Fragments
there are fragments
lying scattered
all around
pieces that I need to find
to make the black hole
disappear
nothingness fills me
from within
an indefinable place
where darkness lurks
there is nothing left
there is no peace
for the restless mind
I search for some reason
for something
to take away this fall from grace
when I crash and stumble
on these fragments
that I thought I had left behind
one by one
they are slowly put back together
and reveal a deadly face
I am haunted by these memories
of the ghost I call the past…
Like a Boat on the River
in a boat on a river
always searching for somewhere
I could find a safe harbour
for all that I am.
I searched every part of the riverside,
but I could not stop the drifting,
I was too restless…
Silently I watched my reflection
in the mirror of the river.
I saw the lines of sorrow etched there,
eyes staring back at me,
blaming me for letting things
get so out of control.
These dreams that I had to let go,
all the hopes that I have abandoned,
kept me here…
For love knows no boundaries,
it has no face.
Where I should have loved myself,
I ended up hating instead.
All the pain that I kept hidden inside,
all the despair that never found a way to escape.
Now when do these emotions stop
running away with me?
When will it stop…
While I am so caught up in the hurt,
life seems to pass me by.
The river of dreams,
kept safe by the light of hope in a world
that still exists beyond all reason,
beyond all doubts…
And I never realized that the river
was the home I have searched for all my life:
The home for my wild heart…
The Phantom
I was thinking about watching on of my favorite movies now... Nothing much on tv...
I found the book the movie/musical is based on as an E-book, but it is rather hard reading it on the computer... And listening to it creeps me out...
Must praise Gerald Butler for being a great Phantom)))
Oh, I forgot Braveheart))) But of course I have it on dvd... I just love the Stephen character. Definitely one of my all time favorites! "It's my island. Oh, you mean Ireland. Yes, it's mine." Not to mention.... In order to speak to his equal an irishman is forced to talk to God...))) (I think it is almost what is said in the movie....) So I guess I'll watch Braveheart then The Phantom...;)

Once in a red moon...
Ready for combat...
Found a haiku I wrote some time ago...
Darkness reigns the days
Evil takes the hearts of Men
Watch the Nazgûl fly
The Guest House
Mae govannen!
It is so good to finally be able to say: Spring is here!!!! It is absolutely lovely! No thick wintercoats for a loooooong time! And it won't be long now before the water is warm enough to swim in. I am so optimistic now))) Strange how quickly you can forget how tedious something can be when it is over...
I have vowed that I am going to enjoy this summer!! Have lots of fun and celebrate life in all its wondrous wonders. All is good...
I am doing some spring cleaning (or trying to...). I have books everywhere, too many notebooks, and lots of paper... I don't know where to put all the books, even though I did get a new bookshelf I still have way too little room and those poor books that has been send to the attic... I think I have to send some more up there... But which one... I'm trying to think of this cleaning as cleaning out that other place where lots of things gets stored away;) My mind... Spring cleaning in the top floor)))) Don't know how well I'd do though, but it reminds me of a beautiful poem by Rumi)))
I leave you with these wise words today;) Namárië
THE GUEST HOUSE
This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture,
still, treat each guest honourably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whomever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

The first time for everything...
I have never ever written a blog in all of my life (if I have it must have been by mistake...). As you might see from the image I am a major fan of Tolkien's world and all the immense influence it has on my creative and imaginary world...
Maybe there are some fellow Tolkien fans out there that also feel the need to marvel over this incredible world he as created... What was it that my friend called me? A completely Tolkien geek:) Hence the name of this bloggy thing:) Something very capturing about Luthien... I find her courage and her love incredible, that she loves someone so deeply that she is willing to give up her immortality for Beren... I found the name that I use on Yahoo from this story... When Beren dies and the Valar is moved by her tears to restore Beren's life... hence Luthien's tears (which of course becomes luthienstears)))...
Sweet waters and light laughter until next we meet;)
Which in Sindarin would be something like "Nîn velui a lalaith veren nalú en-agovaded vín"
I do not speak Sindarin, but picked it up at a site somewhere... Have lots of beautiful sayings in a book that I just found cleaning out a drawer))))
